What is Bluesky Retreat?

Bluesky Retreat is a new charity, receiving its charity status on 1st October 2020. As a new charity, we are currently raising funds for a holistic retreat that offers support to bereaved parents.

Our primary care will concentrate on parents and families who have lost a child at the age of 30 or under, however we will still be able to provide remote secondary support if your child is over 30, please do get in touch to find out more.

The retreat will offer an opportunity for bereaved parents to come together in an understanding and non-judgemental environment. Whilst staying at the retreat parents will be offered compassionate counselling by a fully qualified counsellor as well as our trustees who have attended courses in bereavement and grief counselling.

A key feature of the retreat will be our memory garden, a place for parents to reflect and gather their own thoughts. Parents will be able to tie a ribbon on our memory tree, as well as the opportunity to plant flowers in remembrance for their child. The grounds will also house a stargazing treehouse, allotments and a communal area for parents to meet and talk about their experience. We will be offering holistic, complementary therapies to promote relaxation and serenity.

The retreat will be located in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, we are surrounded by many walking routes with beautiful scenery.

We understand that grief can have a huge impact on relationships, often leading to separation, worsening feelings of isolation. We would like to offer opportunities for couples to reconnect, communicate and heal.

In the interim of the retreat being built, we will be supporting parents with bereavement support weekends offering spa days, hotel breaks and wild camping experiences. Each weekend will be accompanied by a trained counsellor.
